4-H District Activity Day 2022 poster

District Activity Day 2022 will be held face-to-face on Friday, June 24th at Lenoir Community College!

DAD is a 4-H Presentation public speaking competition for youth to present information on the topic of their choice. 4-H Presentations are a huge part of North Carolina 4-H and is one of the most successful ways to help a young person learn public speaking skills.

Youth ages 8-18 (As of January 1, 2022) are invited to compete. There will be a separate non-competing category for Cloverbuds, allowing youth ages 5-7 to present at county and district levels.

The speech/presentation should be between 5 and 12 minutes. District winners compete at the state level. State winners in sponsored categories receive cash awards! In specific categories, the State-winning seniors may go on to compete at the National level.

You can choose your own topic based on a past or current project. There are many options to fit all interests such as grilling, animal science, environmental science, arts, and so much more! The topic should be something you enjoy, are interested in, and can be presented easily in 5-12 minutes. Individuals can revamp and use past years presentations unless they have won gold with it. Individuals cannot compete in a category that they have previously won gold in.

In addition to presentations, there will be a 4-H Entertains Talent Showcase this year! Youth can demonstrate their talents individually or in group acts. Each county can register 2 acts total. Acts should be no longer than 5 minutes. (Note: This is additional and does not qualify as a presentation – individuals must give a DAD topic presentation to participate.)

All individuals must be enrolled and approved in 4-H Online to participate.
