Do you enjoy gardening, learning new skills, and giving back to your community? The NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteer Program in Lenoir County offers the perfect opportunity to do all three!
What is an Extension Master Gardener
℠ Volunteer?
Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteers (EMGVs) are trained community members who work under the direction of NC State Cooperative Extension. They:

Receive research-based training in horticulture, gardening, landscaping, etc.

Help answer questions from the public about gardening, lawns, houseplants, and more.

Volunteer their time to support educational programs, educational gardens, community events, etc.
Opportunities for Volunteers:

Attend monthly meetings and continue learning year-round.

Share gardening knowledge at community events.

Work closely with the horticulture agent on local projects.
-
Organize and support plant sales and educational programs.
-
Volunteer in native plant garden, children’s gardens, at the senior center, etc.

Build connections with fellow gardening enthusiasts.
Course Information & Requirements:

Class Dates: January 13 – March 31, 2026 (Tuesday's from 9 AM – 12 PM)

Location: Lenoir County Cooperative Extension Center, 1791 Hwy 11, Kinston, NC

Fee: $175 (covers the handbook, materials, and dues)

Must not miss more than 2 classes.

Must have an active email and basic internet skills.

Must be able to pass a background check.

No prior horticulture experience required—just a willingness to learn!
After the Course Training:

Attend an Informational Session – Must attend 1 to be considered for the course.

Dates: Nov. 18, Dec. 16, or Jan. 6 at 10 AM
